Designing for the Environment Turns Intel Fabs Green
Intel takes environmental protection seriously and one of its goals is to recycle 100% of the ultra pure water that is used to manufacture silicon wafers. Intel also has a lot of waste heat and it uses heat-recovery chillers. The chillers are heat pumps that reduce the need for cooling towers by recovering some of the heat for reuse.
